Henry Clay Kafton Jr. 83 passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, after a long battle
with mesothelioma cancer.
He was born July 31, 1932, to Henry Clay Kafton and Wyvonne Amelia Saunders.
Henry married Nelma Louise Foote on April 29, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. After
sharing their love and their lives for 48 years, Nelma passed away in 2002. On September
10, 2005 Henry married Laurine Bluemel Stokes. They had 10 wonderful years together
also filled with love.
Henry had a good sense of humor and loved to tease. He also had a very caring heart and
looked for ways to build people up. Henry was a friend to everyone he met. He was loved
and respected by many people and never knew a stranger.
He loved his children. When they were young he would read to them and give them rides
on Daddy’s shoulders. Later he encouraged them in their endeavors in life. He and Nelma
were the parents of four children: Louise (Conrad) Roskelley, Marie (Joel) Shepherd,
David (Sheila) Kafton, and Michael (Deanna) Kafton. After marrying Laurine he was
happy to count her children as his own. Susan (Jeff) Allen, Karan (Gary) Toland, Scott
Stokes (deceased), and Evelyn Stokes (deceased).He leaves with a posterity of 30
grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren.
Henry loved to travel and have adventures. He would often see a sign for something
when driving somewhere and have to go and see what it was. He and Laurine enjoyed
traveling together.
Henry was a very spiritual man and loved the Lord. As a member of the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints, he held many callings and served faithfully wherever needed.
