Henry A. Haynes, 89, of Three Oaks, Michigan died peacefully at his home Wednesday night, January 8, 2014.
Henry was born July 2, 1924 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Henry and Laura (Ramsay) Haynes. After graduating from High School he served his country in the Photographic Unit of the US Marines stationed in China during WWII. Henry earned his Bachelor Degree from Western Michigan University. In 1963 he married Ruth Windover. After many years of marriage, they found they were better as friends and they remained close. Henry was employed as a quality control engineer.
He enjoyed camping, sailing, golfing, photography, and deer hunting. He was a Past Grand Master and 32nd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Grand Rapids, he was a member of the Three Oaks F. and A.M. Lodge #239 of Three Oaks. Henry was also a Noble Member of the Saladin Shrine Temple of Grand Rapids, a member of the Berrien County Shrine Club and member of its squad of mini bikers.
Survivors include his children, Mary Weers of Three Oaks and Laura Haynes of Albany, California; granddaughters, Laura, Morgan, Marjorie, Amber and Emma Weers; Briannah VanderAa and Alesia Gruenwald.He was preceded in death by his grandson Eric Weers, brother William and sister Marian.
