Helena Ferber Waite, 90

Troy Helena Ferber Waite, 90, of Fifth Avenue, died Friday at St. Mary’s Hospital Troy.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late George A. and Dorretta H. Miller Ferber and wife of the late John G. Waite. She had resided in Troy all her life and was a graduate of Troy schools and Troy Business College.

Mrs. Waite was employed by the Meneely Bell Company in Troy, was principle stenographer for the Commissioner of the New York State Education Department and was office administrator of the Troy Boys Club in Troy, many years ago.

She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Troy serving as an Elder and Trustee and the Presbyterian Women’s Association treasurer. She was a member of the Rensselaer County Historical Society and treasurer of its’ museum gift shop for 20 years. She was a life member of the Troy High School PTA and a former member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board Troy Temple, Family and Children’s Service and the Troy Boys’ Club Women’s Auxiliary. As a member of the Troy Women’s Club she was named to the New York State Federation of Woman’s Clubs Honor Roll for service to church and community.

Survivors include three sons John G. Waite and wife Diana of Troy, Frederick P. Waite and wife Sherrian Knight of Washington, DC and Robert G. Waite and wife Katrin Reichelt of Fairfax, VA; two sisters Dorretta B. Ferber of Troy and Mildred F. Ingalls of Sun City Center, FL; two brothers Dr. Carl J. Ferber of Ft. Myers, FL and John A. Ferber of Gainesville, FL and three grandchildren David Waite of Portland, OR and Angharad Waite and Penelope Waite both of Washington, DC. She was predeceased by four brothers George, Frederick, Paul and Phillip Ferber and a sister Irene Buckbee.
