Helen Mariam Slaughter, age 87, of Birmingham AL, went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ Saturday, January 05, 2013. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Pell City, AL. Mrs. Slaughter was preceded in death by her husband Kinney Slaughter, a son Kinney Earl Slaughter, her parents Bonard O. Hughins and Ruby Hambright Hughins. She is survived by her sons, Bob Slaughter & James Slaughter, a brother John Hughins, a sister-in-law Peggy Jacobs, 7 grandchildren Timothy Slaughter, Tina Fortenberry, Elizabeth Fuller, Lynn O’Neal, Cindy Crothers, Scott Slaughter, and Mark Slaughter, 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She worked in the grocery business for many years. After that she worked for Aladdin cleaners where she subsequently retired. She was a devoted & loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her grandchildren cheerfully playing games with them when together. She loved to play the board game Pollyanna and was an avid Alabama football fan. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
