Helen Sauter (nee Maniatis), loving wife of 60 years, mother of 4 children, and YiaYia of 4 grandchildren, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2016 at 86 from complications of lung disease. She is survived by husband Peter Sauter; children Nicholas Sauter, M.D., Penny Mitchell, James Sauter, Esq., and their spouses; John Sauter and his fiancee; and grandchildren Peter Mitchell; Peter, Hannah and Samuel Sauter.
Helen was born and raised in the Bronx, and a long-time resident of Greenburgh, NY. She graduated from Hunter College with a BA in Philosophy and Classical Languages. She was a beloved “mommy” to her nieces and nephews. She touched the lives of countless children as a teacher’s aide at Alice E. Grady Elementary School in Elmsford, NY.
