Helen Marie Emmons, 84, of Bicknell, IN passed away early Sunday April 19, 2020 at her residence. Helen was born November 3, 1935, in Birmingham, AL the daughter of Carl Nichols and Martha Goodwin Hughes and her stepfather, Paul Hughes. She was married to George Emmons in 1953 who preceded her in death. She worked at RCA in Bloomington, IN until her retirement. She was a member of the Bethany General Baptist Church in Bicknell, the French Club, was active in the Bicknell Senior Center, and formerly was an active leader in the Girl Scouts.
She is survived by her daughter, Helen Scarber of Bicknell, she raised Bill Messer of Wheatland, IN and Kimberly Messer of Vincennes as her own children. She is also survived her grandchildren, Jimmy Emmons, and his wife Sharyl, her great-grandchildren, Rick Emmons, Aja Emmons, Bradley White, Kayla White, Breanna White and Drew Brown. A sister Bobbie Townsend of Spencer also survives.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, George Emmons, a son James Richard Emmons, a son in law, John Scarber, a granddaughter, Kersandra Scarber, and a brother, Bill Hughes.
