Helen M. Davis Schafer Parkison
Helen was the daughter of F.L. Davis and Lula Emma Antisel. She was the last of 11 children born to this marriage, all having preceding her in death. She was born in rural Adair County, Iowa, 20 November 1925. She passed away on 16 November 2021, 4 days from her 96th birthday, at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She had spent most of her adult life in Colorado Springs. They spent 14 years as a military family, from Fort Carson, formerly known as Camp Carson, Fort Campbell, KY and Camp McCoy, WI. She had three sons, Charles Jr., Gregory and Nickey. All are Veteran’s of the US Navy, of which Charles, Jr. spent 24 years. She also had three wonderful daughter-in-laws, Connie, Donette and Ann (who preceded her in death in 2016).
Helen and her first husband divorced in 1960 and she remarried J. D. Parkison in 1968; J. D. passed away in 1989 in Colorado Springs. After his death she spent the remainder of her life loving her children and grandchildren., Chuck (Dana), Heath (Langlee), Ron (Tiffany), Traci (Brian), and Shawn; and great grandchildren, Lauren Schafer, Trevor Schafer, Seth Schafer, Brianna Barr, Jamee Barr, Gavin Schafer, Presley Schafer and Briston Schafer. She was blessed with the greatest family ever. Upon her death her desire was to be cremated and her and J.D.’s ashes be spread at the base of Pikes Peak – the Mountain that she loved and lived at the base of for many years.
