Helen Lillian Welker, 94, of Meridian, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at home in Meridian. Helen was born on September 20, 1917 in Meridian, Idaho, the fourth child of Alfred & Jessie Matcham. She graduated from Meridian High School in 1935 & married Grant Welker in 1937. They began a family having three girls; Joan, Jean & Judy.
After retirement, Grant & Helen joined Helen’s sisters in RV adventures across the country but, the best times were spent picking up rocks & shells on the Oregon beach. Helen loved her grandchildren, they were the light of her life & she was overjoyed to become a great grandmother. Kindness & love sum up this wonderful woman. She will be missed.
Helen is survived by her daughter Judy Welker; grandchildren, Brian & Sean Fike, Karece Bull, & Lindsey Welker; great-grandchildren, Megan, Anna, Bailey, & Riley; sisters, Doris McAtee & June Wallace. She was preceded in death by her husband Grant, daughters, Joan Fike & Jean Stevenson, siblings Ray Matcham & Beulah Bassett.
