Our cherished mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Helen Laurene Burns passed away peacefully on Sunday November 13, 2016 with her family by her side.

Laurene was born November 2, 1933 in Plainville, KS to Laurence and Helen Novis.  Raised in Gooding, Idaho with three younger sisters, she graduated from Gooding High School and went on to attend college at The College of Idaho.  It was there that she met her husband of sixty years Charles Robert “Bob” Burns.  Together they lived in Nampa where they raised five children.

While raising her family and attending their every activity, Laurene worked in the Public Relations Department at Mercy Medical Center and later for Nampa School District in the Migrant Education Resource Center.

Laurene was a devoted wife and mother who unconditionally supported her children and grandchildren in every way.

Laurene was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Laurence Novis, Sisters Kathy Davlin and Maxine Hill and in-laws Charles and Maude Marie Burns and will be forever in the hearts of her children, Jayne (George) Burnett of Caldwell, Chuck (Ami) Burns of Gold Canyon, AZ,  Tom (Julia) Burns of Bothell, WA, Laurie (Andy) McCluskey of Caldwell and Martin (Lisa) Burns of Clarkston, WA;  grandchildren, Todd Burnett, Amanda (Mark) Tompkins, Heather Burns, Natalie (Sergio) Gutierrez, Alexandra Burns, Jordan Burns, Melissa (Sean) Hackett, Molly McCluskey, Josh Burns, Marisa (Eric) Rayborn and Shawn Skinner;  great-grandchildren Addilyn and Dyllan Tompkins, Joseph and Sebastian Garcia, Mariah Robinson, Thalia and Tysin Gutierrez, Cassidy, Maddie and Brianna Hackett, Scott and Bodie Rayborn and Kaydence Skinner; beloved sister Marlene Brownlee and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Heron Place Assisted Living in Nampa and to Horizon Home Health and Hospice for the loving care they provided to mom and to our family.
