Helen L. Stamper of Humboldt, formerly of the Gilmore City area, died Monday September 1, at the Long Term Care unit at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.
Helen Arn, the daughter of Jacob Arn and Baben McCabe was born April 7, 1924 in Fort Dodge, Iowa where she was raised and educated, graduating from the Fort Dodge High School. In 1946 she was united in marriage with Stanley Stamper in Elk Point, South Dakota. The couple lived and farmed in the rural Gilmore City area and operated a Dekalb seed corn business.
Stanley and Helen moved to Humboldt in 1986. Helen at been a resident at Long Term Care since 2001.
Survivors include her daughter Diane (Don) Connor of Humboldt,IA, grandchildren, Matthew (Kim) Conner and their children Caden and Nash, from Delano, Minnesota, and Stephanie (John) Sinclair and their children Amelia and Alaina of Des Moines,IA, sister Virginia Misbach of Humboldt, IA, stepdaughters Nancy (Frank) Christy, and their seven children and eleven grandchildren, from Des Moines, IA, and Susan (Duane) Fuller and their three children and four grandchildren from Rockford, Illinois, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Helen was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Republican Women’s Group of Humboldt County. She served as the Director of Hospice in Humboldt. She loved reading, playing cards, dancing and watching television.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley in 1988, seven siblings: June, Gene, Robert, Mary, Beulah, Millie, and Bessie, granddaughter Elizabeth Ann and grandson Shawn Patrick.
