Helen Joan Delaney, 84, of Jacksonville, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
She was born Sept. 18, 1927, in Arenzville, the daughter of Oscar F. and Ruth Wood Niemann. She married Charles “Gene” Delaney on Feb. 18, 1950, in Arenzville and he survives.
She is also survived by a step-daughter, Roena Henne of Decatur; niece, Joni (Gary) Walmsley of Decatur; nephew, Richard (Christine) Niemann of Alexandria, VA; and one great niece and three great nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon “Bob” Niemann and Arthur Niemann; and son-in-law, James Henne.
Mrs. Delaney was a 1948 graduate of Passavant Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a surgical nurse for several years at Passavant Area Hospital and later as a supervising nurse at Jacksonville Developmental Center, retiring in 1987.
