Helen J. Everhart, age 96 of Sycamore, Ohio and formerly of McCutchenville, Ohio died at 4:15 A.M., Thursday, July 14, 2022 at home. She was born on February 21, 1926 in Wyandot County to Fred and Modest (Shireman) Gier. She married Gail A. Everhart on June 30, 1946 and he died August 18, 1991.                           

Surviving are the following children: Margaret (Dave) Arter, Sycamore, Ohio, Dennis (Martha) Everhart, rural McCutchenville, Ohio, Jane (Doug) Darrow, Pawley S Island, South Carolina,  and Jo Ann (Troy) Tanzer, Round Rock, Texas. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Todd (Karen) Arter, Stephanie (Doug) Depinet, Trent (Kara) Arter, Matthew (Kim) Everhart, Joel (Jayne) Everhart, Elyse (Matthew) Cramer, Brad (Lizz) Darrow, Brian (Maggie) Darrow, Gabriel Tanzer plus eleven great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Jo Everhart, a granddaughter, one sister, Marjorie Clingo, and a former companion for eight years, Dale Young. 

Helen was a retired first grade teacher having taught at Fostoria Elementary School for 27 years. She was a 1944 graduate of McCutchenville High School and received her B.S. Degree from Heidelberg College, Tiffin, Ohio. Helen was a member of the Sycamore United Church of Christ, was a Past Matron of the former Eastern Star Lodge in McCutchenville,  founder of the Sycamore Community Quilters, former member of the Wyandot County Retired Teachers, member of the Family Campers and Recreational Vehicles Association. 

For hobbies, Helen loved to quilt, loved to fish every year at Horwood Lake in Canada, go camping, and loved to watch her grandchildren participate in all their sporting events.
