Helen Sorenson Hallmark, age 89, affectionately known as “Mama Helen”, peaceably passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013, surrounded in love by her family. She was a member of the Roebuck Park Baptist Church, an avid golfer and member of the Alabama Women’s Golf Association for many years, served as a counselor for the Girls Scouts of America and was a proud member of the Daughters of the Confederacy. Her son Dennis Hallmark preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Ellis Hallmark of Birmingham, son, Thomas (Nancy) Hallmark of Birmingham, daughter Shirley Cosby of Riverside, Alabama, son, Dr. Gerald (Jerri Ann) Hallmark of Alexander City, Alabama and sister, Joan (Charles) Sharder of Smoke Rise, Alabama. She leaves nine grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and a host of friends.
