Helen G. Hauschild (Gasper) 88 of Mansfield Center, passed away from this life, Friday January 20, 2017 at the Brookdale Buckingham Alzheimer Assisted Living Facility, Glastonbury, CT surrounded by her husband of 67 years, Edmund, her daughter, Cynthia Kuzmickas, son in law, Peter and granddaughter, Adriene Kuzmickas.

Helen was born and raised in Andover, CT with seven brothers and sisters on the family dairy farm.  After marrying Edmund in 1950, they began raising their family on the farm. They moved to Mansfield Center in 1961. Helen worked at the University of Connecticut Dept. of Political Science as an Administrative Assistant of Admissions for over 20 years. She was an avid and “loud” UCONN Men’s Basketball fan, often unraveling large banners from her office window as the team walked by to practice. Helen and Edmund and their family spent many enjoyable years on Big Averill Lake in Vermont, she was an avid water skier. She was also a great cook and baker (especially those family Czechoslovakian recipes).

Helen is survived by her loving and devoted husband; her sister and best friend, Louise and her husband Elmer McClusky; She is predeceased by six of her siblings and her son, Edmund A. Hauschild Jr. Helen is survived by her daughter in law, Donna and their son, Timothy and (Sheila); daughters, Isyss, Selena and Sheila-Lyse,  Mathew and (Marnie) and daughters Eden and Leila, Brian and (Emily) and children Alexa and Brayden. Helen also leaves a son, Eric W. Hauschild and wife Robin and their sons Eric, Jr. and Jerffery. Helen’s daughter and son in law, Cynthia L. and Peter Kuzmickas and their children: Ryan and Rebecca and their children Freyja Helen and William; Jennifer and Brad and their son James Peter; Adriene and Kert; and Anson Kuzmickas. Helen also leaves a large family of nieces and nephews and their children.

The family would like to thank the kind and professional staff at Brookdale for their devoted care and Vitas Hospice for the outstanding support during her last weeks.
