Helen F. Patterson, 89, of Jacksonville, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, at Barton W. Stone Home in Jacksonville.

She was born April 21, 1919, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Charles E. and Emma McKinney Hadden. She married Clyde Patterson on April 12, 1941, in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 1960.

She is survived by one son and one daughter, Tom (wife, Margaret Prahl) Patterson of Custer, S.D. and Ellen (husband, Ray) Stocker of Arenzville; six grandchildren, Mike (wife, Bobbie) Stocker of Cheyenne, WY., Peggy (husband, Jeff) Westerfield of Jacksonville, Steven Stocker of Belleville, Jim (wife, Becky) Stocker of Arcadia, Sara Patterson of Springfield and Anne (husband, Lin) Boatwright of Chicago; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Sue Traylor; one son, David Patterson; two brothers, James E. and William L. Hadden; and one sister, Mary Hadden.

Mrs. Patterson was a 1937 graduate of Jacksonville High School. She was a longtime member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, and was currently a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. She had been a member of Arcadia Women’s Club and was a charter member of Morgan County Garden Club. She enjoyed flowers, being outdoors, and all animals, especially cats, dogs and her Black Angus cattle.
