Helen Louise Cowger, 75, of Hobbs, New Mexico, went to Heaven to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 5, 2015, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.

Helen was born on July 19, 1940 in Webster Springs, West Virginia, to Henry “Boots” and Mary Gallihue Hall. She grew up on Point Mountain and graduated from Webster Springs High School. After graduating, she met Earl Cowger, the love of her life, and they married in 1960. One short year after their wedding they moved to Hobbs, New Mexico, where they raised two wonderful children. Those two children, Penny and Michael, later blessed Helen and Earl with grandchildren, Morgan (Keith), Dustin (Amanda), Brittni, Anita, and Whittni, and great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Jordan, Joslyn, Harper, and Emmy. Helen loved those babies and they could do no wrong. She spent years and years loving and caring for the younger generations of her family and, oh, how they cherished their “Meme”. Helen’s family meant more to her than anything else but her other interests included walking her other baby, Lucy, and traveling. Once Earl retired they began to travel and spend time with family in various parts of the country like Ohio, West Virginia, Missouri, and Alaska. Many of their vacations were spent with treasured close friends, Blair and Mickey Thompson.

Helen is survived by her husband and lifelong love, Earl Cowger, by her daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Randy Webster of Humble, Texas, and by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lisette Cowger of Hobbs, New Mexico, and her five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Lena Lake and Violet (Fred) Starcher and her sister-in-law, Molly Hall, along with her brothers-in-law, Clyde (Mary) Cowger, Kenny (Darlene) Cowger, Caunny (Janet) Cowger, Doy (Ruby) Cowger, and sisters-in-law, Clara (Ross) Payne, Carol (Mike) Brown, Vela (Junior) Brown, Sue DeBarr, and Barbara Cowger-Vilagi along with many dear nieces and nephews. Helen is also survived by one very important poodle named Lucy.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Henry “Boots” and Mary Hall and her parents-in-law, Commodore and Bertie Cowger. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Charles Hall, and her brothers-in-law, Aunny Cowger, Clinton Cowger, and Junior Cowger along with her sister-in-law, Wilda Cowger.
