Helen C. Haymes, 72, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 11:50 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 in Hospice House. Helen was born on July 1, 1941 in Owensboro, Kentucky to Frank Bertke, Jr. and Helen (Long) Bertke. She had lived in South Bend since 1969. Helen had been employed as a secretary with Chuck and Sons Plumbing. On November 30, 1968, in Kentucky, she married Danny E. Haymes, who preceded her in death on August 23, 2008. Survivors include two sons, Mark A. (Mary) White of Grovetown, Gerogia and Jeff S. White of South Bend, Indiana; one sister, Sharon (Larry) Gillim of Owensboro, Kentucky; one brother, Frank Bertke, III of Owensboro, Kentucky; one step-granddaughter, Ashley Rachels; several nieces and nephews; and the family pet, Versace. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m.
