Helen C. Brown, 88, of Jacksonville, IL passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013, at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield, IL.

She was born January 13, 1925, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Edward “Jack” and Mary Frazier Blue. She married Rev. Abraham “Abe” Brown on January 17, 1944, in Jacksonville and he survives.

She is also survived by three daughters, Cheryl McCleary (husband, Rev. Jerry) of Knoxville, TN, Bonnie Kay Fearson of Springfield, Aurelia Reese of Hesperia, CA, and Abe Brown Jr. (wife, Jackie) of College Station, TX; ten grandchildren, Cynthia, Jerry, Amanda, Christopher, Ashley, Abe III, Adam, Erica, Bryan, and Darryl; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Blue (wife, Anna Belle) of Jacksonville; a sister, Barbara Harding (deceased husband, Wilfred) of Hampton, VA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Mrs. Brown was a homemaker, worked several years as a custodian at the Morgan County Courthouse, and diligently supported her husband’s ministry at St. James Baptist Church in Hillsboro and throughout the Jacksonville area. She was a member of Mt. Emory Baptist Church in Jacksonville, St. James Baptist Church in Hillsboro, and the Jacksonville Doll Club.
