Those left to honor Helen’s memory are her son, Duane (Lisa) Blommers of Newton; her two daughters, Sharon (Mike) Farrell of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Sandy (Bill) Boyd of Newton; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Blommers of Monroe, Iowa; twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and her sister, Joyce (Paul) Thompson of Pella, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Gertrude (Miedema) VanBrogen; husband, Marvin in 1999; twin daughters in infancy, and her son, Mark in 2006.
Helen lived in Newton since 1952. She worked 21 years for the Newton Community School District. Helen had worked in the Hot Lunch Program and then she worked as a custodian, retiring in 1988.
