Hazel File, 95, of Jacksonville died Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Barton W. Stone Home in Jacksonville.
She was born January 4, 1913 in Cypress, IL; the daughter of Robert Tobias Toby and Elizabeth Adeline Addie Turner Cress. She married Ward File in 1956 and he preceded in death.
She is survived by two nieces, Sheila Chapman of Jacksonville and Trudy Rockwell of Chesapeake, VA; a great niece, Amy Longstreth (husband, David) of Mt. Juliet, TN; two great nephews, Jesse P. Chapman IV (wife, RaeLynn) of Monroe City, MO and Henry A. Dollear II of Cheasapeake, VA; two great great nephews; and three great great nieces.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Elgin and Milford Cress, and a great great niece.
Mrs. File was a graduate of Illinois College and completed additional coursework at the University of Illinois. She taught at the Illinois School for the Deaf from 1947 until her retirement in 1985.
