January 25, 1923 – December 9, 2016

Hazel C. Stratton, Age 93 of Leon Springs, TX passed away quietly in her sleep and went to be with the Lord on Dec. 9, 2016. She was born on Jan. 25, 1923 and adopted by Emory and Georgia Lane Brown of Boerne, TX. 

She was raised and lived in the Bandera area and met and married her first husband Harvey W. Clark in 1937. They lived and worked in the area for nineteen years and had five children; Georgia L (Clark) Glover, Harvey W, Clark Jr., Samuel J. Clark, Gerald R. Clark and Donald W, Clark. After her separation from her first husband, she remarried Tsgt. Billy M, Stratton on August 9, 1956 and soon after on August 10th the whole family left for Fairbanks, Alaska, Billy’s new duty station. While in Alaska, Beverly M. Stratton and Billy M. Stratton were born. In 1959 the couple and their growing family of now seven children moved back to the lower States where Billy retired from the Air Force and went to work for Federal Services. It was during that time, three years after leaving the Air Force, that their last child Bobby M. Stratton was born. Hazel and Billy eventually settled in Leon Springs where she lived out her remaining years. Billy passed away in January 1997 after forty-one years of marriage. Hazel’s memory was sharp right up until the time she passed away and was known by her family and friends as “the family historian.” In her later years, she wrote a complete set of memoirs consisting of four chapters of her life.   

She was preceded in death by her adopted parents, her first husband Harvey W. Clark, her second husband Billy M Stratton  and her sons Harvey W. (Trapper) Clark, Jr. and Donald W. Clark. She is survived by her daughters Georgia L (Clark) Glover and Beverly M. (Stratton) Lee, and Sons, Samuel J. Clark, Gerald R. Clark, Bill Stratton and Bobby Stratton. She is also survived by a countless numbers of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
