Harry Siegfried Schmalz, age 56, of Chantilly, VA passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018. He was born on April 9, 1962 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Rudolf Schmalz and Wilhelmine (Wentzel) Schmalz. He was a Research Analyst for Center for Naval Analyses. Harry was an avid fly fisherman who believed that the worst fishing day on the water was still better than the best day spent indoors. He also loved baseball and was a long-suffering Cubs fan for many years. Despite suffering from Parkinson’s disease, Harry strove to serve God in every part of his life. He was not just a hearer of the Word, but a doer of it as well. Survivors include his wife, Joyce A. Schmalz; two children, Estevan Schmalz and Olivia Schmalz, both of Chantilly, VA; his mother, Wilhelmine Schmalz of Niles, IL; one brother, Siegfried Schmalz and wife Kristin of Aubrey, TX; one sister, Renate Newcomb and husband Rick of Rochester, MN.
