Muncie-Harry R. “Randy” Heaston, 69, passed away early Friday morning, December 27, 2013, at his residence following an extended illness.  He was born October 6, 1944, in Muncie, the son of Robert and Leona (Devers) Heaston.

Mr. Heaston had proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard for nine years prior to his honorable discharge.   Randy had married the love his life, Sherry (Dearduff) on December 5, 1964 in Muncie and she survives.

            He was a member of the Central Indiana Karting Association, racing Go-Karts.  Mr. Heaston also enjoyed racing at the Anderson Speedway and most recently was interested in Classic Cars.  Randy also played golf and was involved with the Girls Scouts of America and was a member of the International Union of Engineers Local 103.

Mr. Heaston had worked as an Operating Engineer doing road paving, for 25 years, serving the Muncie Paving Corporation.   Later he would work for the Muncie Star Press in various positions. He was a NASCAR fan and Dale Earnhardt was his favorite driver.

Besides his wife of 49 years, Sherry, he is also survived by his two daughters, Christy Thornburg (husband-Robert) and Misty Cougill (husband-Larry), both of Muncie; two grandchildren, Asher and Seth Cougill, both of Muncie; Several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley Harnish (husband-George) and Billie Mitchell (husband-Mike); one brother Jerry Heaston.
