Harry Virgil Moore, 96, of Bloomington went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family Monday, February 27, 2012. Born July 25, 1915 in Nashville, IN, he was the son of William Ollie and Pearl (Reed) Moore.

Harry was a proud member of the United States Navy during World War II. After the war he drove a truck for Sims Transport, and was also the owner/operator of Moore’s Sawmill. Additionally, he worked for the Monroe County Solid Waste at their Bethel Lane location.

After retirement, he enjoyed spending his days visiting his childhood landmarks with his daughter Donna and his dog Penny. Harry was a member of Lifeway Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis I. (Lentz) Moore, daughters, Josephine Hawkins (Melvin), Nancy Gilliland (Robert), Donna Moore all of Bloomington, Lisa Carroll of Brownstown, sons, Virgil and Billy Moore both of Bloomfield. He was a loving grandfather and is also survived by his 28 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Lucille Moore (1969), sisters, Helen Moore, Evelyn Aynes, brothers, Orval, Ralph, Glen Earl and Forest Moore, daughters, Harriet Anderson, Carolyn Teague, sons, Benny D. Moore, Donald Lentz, one grandson, one granddaughter and one great grandson.
