Harry Barsalou, 94, Pocatello, passed away, February 24, 2018 at a local assisted living center of natural causes.
Harry was born August 8th, 1923 in Salmon, Idaho to Ted and Margaret Barsalou. He had six brothers and sisters; Zelma, Fern, Buzz, Frank, Casey, and Ralph. Harry grew up in the Salmon area, and graduated from Salmon High School in 1941. That same year he joined the Navy. Harry served as a storekeeper on the U.S.S. Lexington and the U.S.S. Sarotoga. He was discharged at the end of World War 2.
After the navy Harry attended college at Idaho State University and the University of Utah, earning a degree in Accounting. He married Merle Joyce Christiansen, and they had 4 sons; Lynn, Bruce, Brian, and David. Harry worked at Sego Milk in Salt Lake and at the AEC site. In 1952 he went to work at Old Faithful Beverage in Idaho Falls where he became General Manager and part owner. Harry retired in 1982.
In 1990 he married Laurel Holder. They spent many years together wintering in Arizona and golfing nearly every day.
Harry had a lot of interests. He enjoyed golf, camping, fishing, water skiing, snow skiing, photography, and playing bridge. He served many years helping at Harbor House, a home for kids in need of transitional care.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, all his siblings, a son, and his wife Merle.
