Harry James Calverley, age 74, a lifelong resident of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2022 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital after a hard-fought battle with ALS.

Harry was born on November 12, 1947 in Stevens Point, WI to William and Martha (Smith) Calverley. He graduated from Lincoln High School, Class of 1965. He went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Carol Brown on December 10, 1966 in Wisconsin Rapids. Together, they created a family and an everlasting love, celebrating 55 years of marriage.

 He worked for 30 years for James Peterson and Sons and 10 years for Hoffman Construction as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He then went on to instruct others in the trade at the Operating Engineers Training Center for 7 years. He closed the last year of his career as a BA for the Operating Engineers Local 139.

Harry loved the outdoors! He was an active hunter and fisherman and could not wait for those seasons to come. He had a passion and love for hunting out in the western states and enjoyed many hunting trips with family out there. He cherished the time spent with family and especially the time spent with his grandchildren. He loved attending any sports they were involved in. He had a deep appreciation for classic cars, and Chevys were near and dear to his heart. He enjoyed watching and attending many NASCAR Cup races with Carol, and watching the Packers and the Badgers. He loved volunteering to help with the Wilderness Sportsman’s Club annual events and also the Kiwanis Outdoor Youth event.

 He was active in many organizations throughout his life including being a 50-year member of the Masonic Blue Lodge and Eau Claire Consistory, a member of the Zor Shriners, he was very proud of his 55 years as a member of Operating Engineers Local 139, Wilderness Sportsman’s Club, RMEF, Wisconsin Bowhunter Association, and lifetime member of the NRA.

Harry is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carol, Son: Todd (Jennifer) Calverley; grandchildren: Noah and Lauren; Daughter: Tina (Mike) Fredrickson, Sister: Joyce (Ray) White, Onalaska, WI; Sister: Donna Mehlbrech, Elm Grove, WI, Brothers: Robert (Sandy) Calverley Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and James (Debbie) Calverley, Anoka, MN, Sister: Debra (Gary) Gukenberger, Marshfield, WI; Brother-in-law: David Brown Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friends Mike (Jenny) Schwake and Carol Schneider.

 He was preceded in death by his father, William Calverley, his mother, Martha Rhoades, Step-Father, George Peterson, Father and Mother-in-law, Grant (Caroline) Brown, Brother-in-law, Arlon Mehlbrech, and Sisters-in-law, Sharon Bowden and Judy Bowman.
