Harry Eugene “Tanker” Burge, Jr., 70, of Franklin, Indiana, passed away at his residence on Friday, May 14, 2021.

Tanker was born on July 31, 1950 in Johnson County, Indiana to the late Jean Mack (Wright) Burge & Harry Eugene Burge, Sr. Tanker worked as a carpenter for Burge Carpet Service, alongside his brother, Larry, for 39 years and was employed at Kawneer as a crane operator and factory  worker for 14 years.

Tanker was a member of ABATE (American Bikers Aimed Toward Education) of Indiana, the nation’s largest State motorcyclists’ rights organization. He was a skilled mechanic and loved everything about cars, from cruising around town to NASCAR and drag racing. He was a loving father and a wonderful grandfather who always looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren. Along with creating memories with his loved ones, he enjoyed being outdoors, camping, and hunting for mushrooms.

Tanker is survived by his three children, Scott (Diana) Burge of Nineveh, Indiana, Jeff Burge of Taylorsville, Indiana, and Phillip Burge of Edinburgh, Indiana; his seven grandchildren, Lillie Wilson, Blake Burge, Britney Everhart, Kayla Burge, Nick Burge, Shawn Burge, and Emma Dailey; his two great-grandchildren, Harrison Everhart and Sawyer Burge; his brother, Larry Burge of Trafalgar, Indiana; his brother-in-law, Mark Nelson of Nineveh, Indiana; his aunt, Cookie (Bobby) Burger of Danville, Kentucky; his nephew, Bruce Nelson.

Tanker was preceded in death by his parents, Jean & Harry Burge, Sr., his brother, Jimmy Burge, and his sister, Pam Nelson.
