Harry E Felder, 81 of Gulf Breeze, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 in Gulf Breeze, FL. Harry, the youngest of 6 children, was born in Liberty, MS on October 7, 1934 to James and Lottie Felder. His childhood was spent in St. Francisville, LA, leaving for the US Navy in November 1951. He spent his Navy days as a Radarman on the USS HW Tucker, impressing all with his radar skills. He parlayed his radar knowledge into a lifelong career with the Federal Aviation Administration, from Air Traffic Controller to Deputy Chief at retirement. Harry was preceded in death by the love of his life, Myrtis. They were married for 53 years at the time of her passing. He is also preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, his daughter Cynthia Gail Felder and grandson Matthew William Bernard. Harry leaves behind to cherish his loving memories his daughter Sharon Felder Bernard, son Gary Felder, daughter Deborah Cook (Jerrold), son James Felder (Heather) and son Daniel Felder as well as 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He will also be missed by his eldest sister, Newell, his nieces and nephews from the Felder family, and Myrtis’ Bergeron family, they all love him dearly too. After moving to several cities and towns across the South, always for a promotion with the FAA, Mom and Dad happily settled down in Gulf Breeze, FL for their last home. They loved being a part of the Gulf Breeze Community and raising their children here. Dad was very proud to have lived in his home for 45 years! He spent many hours coaching both baseball and football with the Gulf Breeze Sports Association in the early years. Friendships were formed that last even until now. The Gang spent many good times together with fundraising cookouts at Shoreline Park as well as trips around the South. He also had a great fondness for Bluegrass music, handling the business side of the White Sands Panhandle Band, promoting their bluegrass everywhere he could. Dad traveled to many bluegrass music festivals over the years, and was a big part of the White Sands Music Festival at the Farmer’s Opry in Chumuckla. His fondness for the Bluegrass community led him to stage his own White Sands Bluegrass Festival in Pensacola. Dad loved his family, his friends, and the Gulf Breeze Community. He became a fixture on South Sunset Blvd, waving and chatting from his ever present lawn chair with all passers by. Daddy, you were an amazing Dad and GrandDad to us all, you will be dearly missed. The family extends their gratitude to his physicians, Dr Joseph Howard, Dr Hani Razek, Dr John Wade as well as the caring staff of Gulf Breeze Hospital.
