Harry E. DeGroot, 86, of Jacksonville, died March 13, 2018, at his home.
He was born June 30, 1931, near Chapin, the son of Herman and Florence Hill DeGroot.
He is survived by two sons, Gerald DeGroot and Steven DeGroot, both of Jacksonville; one grandson, Jared DeGroot (Tacy Mayner) of Jacksonville; two great grandchildren, Mia DeGroot and Hylan DeGroot; and one sister, Thelma Seymour of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his parent; lifelong companion, Donna Jean Wainman; one son, Wayne DeGroot; and three sisters, Marjorie Boes, Lillian Gaines, and Kay Daniels.
Mr. DeGroot was a carpenter for 35 years with Seymour Builders. Harry enjoyed bowling, karaoke, and was a car enthusiast.
