Those left to honor Harry’s memory are his wife, Ruth DeMeyer of Newton; 4 sons, Doug DeMeyer and Denise Lacina of Newton, Mike (Connie) DeMeyer of Prairie City, Iowa, Randy DeMeyer of Grapevine, Texas, and Chuck (Sandy) DeMeyer of Mulvane, Kansas; his 7 grandchildren, Phil (Cindi) DeMeyer, Steve DeMeyer, Christy (Chris) Martin, Holly (Donnie) Maggard, Lisa DeMeyer, Allison DeMeyer and Charles DeMeyer; 6 great-grandchildren, Jack, Kaleb, Miranda, Kelsey, Jaret, and Justin; his sister, Georgette Eaton of Marshalltown, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jonathan D. “Jon” DeMeyer in 2002; brother, Albert DeMeyer; his sister, Vivian Richardson; and brother-in-law, Gayle.
Harry graduated from Newton High School in 1943 and served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
