Harry Boer, 94, of DeMotte, Indiana passed away Monday, December 19, 2016, at the Oak Grove Christian Retirement Village. Harry was born in DeMotte, Indiana on August 22, 1922, the son of Gerrit and Lena (Intveld) Boer.
Harry graduated from the DeMotte High School and proudly served in the Army Air Corps and infantry during WWII in both North Africa and Italy. On January 1, 1947, Harry married the love of his life, Beatrice Jean Olthoff and she preceded him in death on November 5, 2014. Harry was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church where he had served as an Elder and Deacon, and longtime Sunday school teacher. Harry had also served as a board member of the DeMotte Christian School. He was a member of the DeMotte American Legion Post #440.
Harry is survived by his 4 children: Shirley (Ron) Bozell of DeMotte; Paul (Dori) Boer of Pella, IA; Mark W. (Karen) Boer of DeMotte; and Roger (Jayne) Boer of DeMotte; a brother Marinus (Shirley) Boer of Lansing, IL; 13 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister, and 2 brothers.
