Harris Bartlett Byrd, 82, of 12 Frontier Trail, Martinsville, VA died Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at King’s Grant, Martinsville, VA. He was born on December 7, 1928 in Durham, NC to the late Carlton Hall Byrd and Margaret Knight Byrd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carlton Hall Byrd, Jr. Mr. Byrd was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Martinsville and served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. After 38 years with Belk Leggett Stores, he retired as manager of the Danville, VA store in 1992.
