Harriet Houston Coffey , 82
Melrose Harriet Houston Coffey , 82 ,of Melrose and formerly of Troy and Brunswick died Wednesday, December 22, 2004 in North Greenbush.
Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Dr. David W. Houston Jr. and Esther (Darby) Houston and wife of the late James V. ‘Bud’ Coffey Jr.
She was born and raised in Troy and was educated at Emma Willard School and Bryn Maur College. She received her bachelors degree from Presbyterian Hospital in Columbia University School of Nursing in New York City and took an anesthesia course at Albany Medical School.
Mrs. Coffey was a Registered Nurse Anesthetist for St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy for 20 years and employed by Dr. E.A. Totty for 6 years.
She was a Lieutenant JG in the WAVES stationed in Washington, DC and a member of the Junior League of Troy and the Country Club of Troy.
She is survived by a brother, H. Darby Houston of Jamesburg, NJ; several nieces and nephews, David H. Houston of Schenectady, Jon R. Houston (Karen) of Melrose, Polly Davison (Robert) of Princeton, NJ, Peter Houston (Mary) of Westlake, OH and Will Houston (Tammie) of Hampden, ME; several great nieces and nephews, Sara and Elizabeth Houston, Lauren, Carolyn and Jon Houston and Bobby and Carrie Davison. She was predeceased by a brother, David W. Houston III.
