Harriet Carpenter, age 96 of Norwalk, died on Friday July 8, 2011 at home. Born in Stamford, she worked for 35 years at Save the Children Federation as an administrator.
She met her husband at the Hat Corporation of America in the late 1930’s where she worked as a secretary to the president and married the chief chemist of the corporation, Samuel Carpenter.
She is survived by her son Samuel, a sister Hilde Carusone of Walnut Creek, CA, well loved nieces and nephews including Janice Everson of Wilton, who lovingly assisted her in her final years. She was predeceased by her husband and her daughter Constance Carpenter and 3 sisters, Dorothy Goldstein, Doris Russell and Georgia Bowen.
