Arthur J. “Bud” Harpstrite, 81, of New Baden, died Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Countryside Manor in Aviston. He was born January 13, 1931 in New Baden, son of Arthur and Clara (Schlich) Harpstrite. He is survived by a brother, Robert Harpstrite; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patricia and John Friess of Chester; nieces and nephews, Brian (Sandi) Harpstrite of New Baden, Diane Harpstrite of St. Louis, MO, Tom (Renee) Harpstrite of Trenton, Janice Harpstrite of New Baden, Teresa (Mike) Wernsman of New Baden, Kevin Harpstrite of Belleville, and Elizabeth (special friend, Jon Huegen) Harpstrite of Damiansville; also survived by 10 great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Harpstrite was a farmer. He was a veteran of the United States Marines and a member of St. George Parish in New Baden and the Clinton County Farm Bureau.
