Harold “Harry” Julius Hagedorn, 70, passed away in Boise, Idaho with family at his side on April 17, 2015 from cancer-related health issues. Though now at his Savior’s side, he is sorely missed for his rock-solid faith and thankfulness for God’s grace, his big heart and quick smile, his booming voice, and for always being there with a word of encouragement.
Harry was born on October 4, 1944 to Julius and Henrietta Hagedorn and grew up on a dairy farm in Neillsville, WI. He spoke of a happy childhood along with an older sister, Patricia, and younger brother, Charles.
Upon graduation Pastor Hagedorn was assigned to the dual parish of Bisbee (Warren) and Douglas in the far southeast corner of Arizona on the Mexican border, serving there for six years. Harry, Kathie and their three young children then moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1976, where Harry served as pastor of St.
After 43 years of marriage to his “dear bride,” Kathie was gathered to the Lord in March 2013. Harry fully retired and moved to Idaho to be closer to his youngest grandchildren. Harry enjoyed his time in Idaho, becoming an avid birdwatcher, road tripping with his daughter, Christine, and family and, as an active weather watcher, rejoicing at missing two consecutive hard Midwestern winters.
The family would like to extend sincere gratitude for the loving care and expertise of Dr. Rafael Arteta-Bulos and his wonderful staff at Mountain States Tumor Institute (MSTI) in Boise, ID, in Harry’s treatment of his stage four cancer, with a special hug to all of the nurses and staff in the infusion suite there.
Harry is survived by his sister Pat, brother Charlie, son Dave and daughter-in-law Marjolein Eweg, daughter Christine and son-in-law Gabriel Reilly and “Grands” Colin (5), Henry (3) and Violet (3) and daughter Katie and son-in-law Matthew Schlomer and “Grands” Claudia (13), Roy (11) and Evelyn (9).
