DURHAM- Mr. Harold Hunter Bennett, 93, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 10, 2020.
Mr. Bennett was born on November 13, 1926 to William and Eugenia Bennett in Durham, NC. He served in the 7th Army Air Force in Hawaii in 1946. Harold was later employed with Liggett and Myers for over 35 years, until his retirement. He was a member of Northgate Chapel and served in various capacities, such as being a charter member and helping build the church building. Harold loved his church and serving with them. He enjoyed gardening and taking care of his yard. He was a wonderful husband and father who will be deeply missed.
Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his parents, William and Eugenia Bennett; brothers, William T. Bennett, Jr., Claude H. Bennett, and Rembert Bennett; sisters, Cleo B. Fox, Ruth B. Tippett, and Libby Burgess. He is survived by his son, Gary H. Bennett (Barbara) of Durham, NC; sisters, Jean Carver (Glenn) of Wilmington, NC, and LaVerne B. Burch of Durham, NC; grandchildren, Dale Keith (Julie) of Kernersville, NC; and great-grandchildren, Chandler Keith and Christian Keith.
