Harold “Gene” Eugene Wicks, age 84, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023 in Clovis.
Gene was born on January 17, 1939 in Clovis, New Mexico to Gordon and Mavis (Shinn) Wicks.
Gene worked at Cannon Air Force Base from 1971 to 2000 as a Civil Service Painter until he retired, and he was a perfectionist when it came to his painting jobs. He would help anyone do anything, and those that he worked with or were around knew that he would even have band-aids and Iodine for anyone who injured themselves in any way.
He loved his family, and he and his brother-in-law were close as brothers. He especially loved his furbaby, Babycakes Wicks, whom he rescued from being out in the cold on New Year’s Eve in 2014.
Gene was preceded in death by his father Gordon Wicks, mother Mavis Wicks Snow, and brothers James Wicks and Frank Wicks.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 57 years, Vicki Wicks of the home; brother-in-law, Baynard Duke and wife Kim; nieces, Sandy Graf, Debbie VanWinkle and husband Ted; and nephews, David Wicks and wife Ginny, Tim Wicks, Ronnie Wicks and wife Sheila.
