Hal Kenneth Turner went to be with the Lord on March 18, 2010. He was born in Celeste, Texas on December 18, 1926 to David and Inez Bell Turner. He grew up in Dallas and graduated from Sunset High School, then Southern Methodist University. Hal served in the infantry during World War II in the Philippines. He married his high school sweetheart, Virginia (June) Crain on June 14, 1947. Working in the lumber business, he became a partner in Redwood Distributors Inc. of Dallas. Upon his retirement in 1978, he and June moved to Austin, then to Dripping Springs, and just recently to Boerne. Hal served as a Deacon at Friendship Baptist Church and was later a Deacon Emeritus at Oak Hill Baptist Church in Austin. During his retirement, he enjoyed building and remodeling houses. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Hal was preceded in death by his parents, his brother David Turner and his sister Peggy Renfro Lively. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 62 years, Virginia (June) Turner, his daughters Peggy Sterling and Cindy Shipley, Sons-in-law Scott Sterling and Phil Shipley, grandchildren Lauren Schneider, Michael Sterling, Joshua Shipley and Jessica Shipley. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces.
