He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Melba in 2004; his daughter in infancy; granddaughter in infancy; and his 3 brothers, Bobby, Bill, and Edward Ely.
He worked for over 35 years in production for the Maytag Company, retiring in 1986 as a superintendent of production at Plant 2.
