Calvin Huhn, Jr., age 94, of Rensselaer passed away on January 19, 2011, at Clarian Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, Indiana. Calvin was born in Chicago on October 6, 1916, the son of Harry C. Huhn Sr. and Catherine (Geringer) Huhn. He moved to Rensselaer in 1946. Calvin attended both the Dolton (IL) and DeMotte schools.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a medic with the 66th and 38th Infantry Divisions. Calvin was a self-employed contractor for many years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, VFW Post #1279, American Legion Post #29 and a 50-plus year member of Prairie Lodge #125 F&AM all in Rensselaer. On June 23, 1940, in Rensselaer, Calvin married Melba Teach. Melba passed away on March 18, 2005.

Surviving are two children, Larry C. (Garnet) Huhn and Linda (Richard) Comingore, both of Rensselaer, a granddaughter, Trisha (Brian) Drain, a grandson, Mathew (Holliston) Huhn, two great-grandsons, Hunter and Easton and one brother, H. Wayne Huhn of DeMotte, IN. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and three brothers.
