Gwendolyn Nichols, 69, of LaPorte, Indiana, died August 3, 2007 at the University of Illinois Hospital – Chicago.
Gwen was born September 18, 1937 in Plainwell, Michigan to Seth and Nadine (Brewster) Meacham, and graduated from Plainwell High School in 1955.
On June 9, 1956 she married James Nichols in Plainwell. Gwen took care of her home and assisted her husband Jim and son Bill at Hardings Market in Three Oaks. Gwen was a very giving person who loved to help others. She enjoyed crocheting, cross stitch, gardening and genealogy research. She was an avid reader and loved her children and grandchildren dearly.
Survivors include her husband, Jim; children, Joelene (Doug) VonKoenig, Stevensville, Michigan and Bill (Jennifer) Nichols of Buchanan, Michigan; grandchildren, Jonathan, Alex, Tony and Brianna; mother, Nadine Morrell of St. Joseph, Michigan and her brother, Bob (Peg) Meacham of Crossville, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her father; sons, Michael in 1958 and Steven in 1985, and by her brother, Leonard Meacham in 2004.
