Gwendola Huffines Garrett, 88, Anderson, died December 22, 2009 at Countryside Manor, Anderson after an extended illness. She was born June 9, 1921 in Overton County, Tennessee, and resided in Anderson, Indiana.
She had lived in Anderson since 1955 and was a homemaker. She was also a member of Wesleyan Parkview Church in Chesterfield. Gwendola also sold Avon for many years. She is survived by her children; Roger Doris Garrett of Anderson, Betty Steven Patty of Parker City, Indiana and J.B. Nancy Garrett of Anderson. Sisters-in-law: Marie Ellis of Tennessee and Inell Swinford of Chesterfield Inez Huffines of South Carolina and Helen Huffines of MD.
Grandchildren; Kevin Anne Garrett, Eric Garrett, Brian Roslyn Patty, Jonathan Patty, Kimberly Tony Lakas and Kelly Garrett. Two great grandchildren; Mark Burgner and Kelly Hoins. Two step great grandchildren; Timberlyn and Kingston along with several nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Dewar and all the Caregivers at Countryside Manor for all their care and concern.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Maudie Flatt and Theodore “Boss” Thurston Huffines. Her husband, William C. Garrett whom she married on April 19, 1941 in Tennessee and died on June 10, 2007. Son: Gary Garrett. Siblings; Hobert Huffines, Edith Masters, Gertrude Smith, Clarence Huffines, Howard Huffines, Fred Huffines and Nadine Smith. Great grandson; Jerith Garrett.
