GUSSIE LEE NORRIS – January 1, 1930 – February 15, 2021

Gussie Lee (Tye) Norris, 91, of Fountain Hills AZ passed away on February 15, 2021. Gussie was born on January 1st, 1930 in Lindsay Oklahoma to Lillie Ginnie Kyker and John F. Tye.  She was the youngest of five children (living).  John F. Tye, Gladys (Tye) Bray, Georgie Marie (Tye) Johns, Henry Tye.  Gussie had a younger sister named Wanda who died at birth.  The family was poor and they were farmers.  Her family moved to the San Diego area when Gussie was 11.  She married Robert Plowman in February 1949 and they had four children together:; Jan, Don, Tye and Kenny. They divorced in 1965.  Gussie married Mack Ray Norris on February 11, 1966 and they had one child together, Shane.  Gussie is survived by her husband, Mack, her children Jan Hardesty, Don & Jeanne Plowman, Tye & Connie Plowman, Kenny and Lisa Norris, Shane & Danette Norris; her grandchildren Dana Snyder, Whitney (& Damien) Kiesling, Taylor (and Tyler) Burd, Ryan (& Ashley) Plowman, Jason (and Lauren) Plowman, Zach Norris, Brett Norris and Brody Norris.  And her Great grandchildren include: Craig Campbell, Blake (Kaitlyn) Campbell, Madison (Tanner) Campbell Moline, Ethan Campbell and Keeley Snyder, Dylan Kiesling, Amelia Burd, Rylee Plowman and Beckett Plowman. JB Burd (son of Tyler & Taylor Burd) was there to meet Gussie in heaven.

Gussie was a hard worker and spent over 30 years with Lever Brothers as a factory worker.  She was a big supporter and frequent fan of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s athletic and creative pursuits.  These included dance, vocalist, football, baseball and basketball.  She loved having babies in the family and would comfort them with her favorite phrase “Gimme some sugar” followed by kisses. 

Gussie passed away peacefully at home on February 15, 2021.
