Guillermo “Willie” Uzueta, 84, Deming resident passed away Sunday June 12, 2016 at Sierra Medical Center in El Paso, Texas.

Willie was born January 20, 1932 to Maria Luz Uzueta Enciso. On March 30, 1955 he married Aurora Chaires. They had one daughter, Mary Louise Milo who later passed away on February 27, 2002.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Aurora Chaires Uzueta, mother, Maria Luz Uzueta Enciso, grandmother, Nicolasa Uzueta, who raised Willie; brothers, Joe and Ernest Uzueta and sisters, Alice Enciso Peru and Mary Pena.

He leaves behind his grandson, Raymond Milo and wife Ramona of Midlothian, VA; 2 great-grandchildren, Lauren and Raymond Jr. Milo; brothers, Manuel Enciso of Montebello, CA and Enrique Enciso and wife Linda of Baldwin Park, CA.

Willie enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on August 28, 1952 and was discharged on August 27, 1955. He received the Purple Heart Medal after being wounded in Korea. He also served 5 years in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.

Willie was a member of the St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Disabled American Veteran and the American Legion. He retired from the City of Deming.
