Gracie Lynn Tapscott Grace, Nana to her grandchildren, peacefully passed away surrounded by family at St. Martin’s in the Pines Healthcare Center in Birmingham on January 21, 2020 at the age of 92 years, due to complications after a fall. Mrs. Tapscott was born in Cullman County, Alabama, the twin daughter of Luther and Florence Lynn. She grew up in Dodge City, Alabama, attended Cullman High School, and retired from the Healthcare industry after many loyal years of service. She was a member of Valleydale Baptist Church.
During her lifetime, Mrs. Tapscott graciously gave her time, talent and efforts to her family and to helping others in the community. She was a skilled seamstress, as well as being a gifted cook. Her chocolate rolls, dumplings, coconut cake, roast beef and noodles were legendary. Gracie could also make anything grow.
Gracie Tapscott will be remembered for her sense of humor, adventurous spirit, love of lipstick, her caring way, her servant’s heart and her unwavering love for her family. She will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Tapscott; daughter, Paula Tapscott Rogers; granddaughter, Meaghan Tapscott; and (9) siblings, to include her twin sister Lacie Harris.
She is survived by her children, Peggy Dye-Dempsey (Jim), Gary Tapscott (Renee), Beth Romano (Claude) and Greg Tapscott (Sharon), 15 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, her precious pup Meggie, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom she loved deeply.
