Genesis 2:7   And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the

ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man

became a living soul.

 

Grace Reaves Finley was born April 26, 1934, in Mullins SC,

to the late Eugene Reaves and Annie Gause Reaves. She was

educated in Marion County Public Schools and graduated and

relocated to Greensboro, NC to further her education at

North Carolina A&T State and Agricultural University where she

Attended for three years before moving to New York in 1954.

 

While in New York she met Charles Napoleon Finley they were later

Married in 1955.Charles was stationed in Watertown, NY.

Their first child was born (Charles). Three years later (1958) 

They moved to Spring Hope, NC another son was born (Curtis)

In 1962 relocated to Frankfort, Germany where in 1965

(Monena) was born. Their final move was in 1967 to Greensboro

To live with her sister Annette Griffin while her husband served in

Vietnam. She then acquired a job at NC State A&T University as a

Administrative Secretary ( Memorial Student Union) for 25 years.

 

She leaves to cherish her memory; two sons, Charles E. Finley

(Patricia), and Curtis N. Finley (Melody), one daughter;

Monena Finley, two grandchildren; Stephanie Finley and

Charles E. Finley, Jr., five great- grandchildren; Laniyah Oliver,

La’Arion Oliver, Aaliyah Finley, Essence Oliver and Amari Finley,

She is also survived by five siblings; one brother; Harry Reaves, Greensboro, NC, four sisters; Sue Reaves Holmes (Noble), Mitchellville, MD, Annette Reaves Bolden, Jacksonville, Florida,

Wilena Reaves Canon and Linda Reaves Guy ( Haywood) both of Greensboro, NC and a host of other relatives and friends.
