Grace B. Tober She Did It Her Way On Monday, Feb. 14, 2011 Grace B. Tober left her earthly home to be with her heavenly maker. Surrounded by her family and friends who loved her dearly, she passed in peace, holding the hands of her son and daughter-in-law. Preceded in death by her husband Frank R. Tober, son Frank A. Tober, mother Cecelia Padgett, and father Arthur Holcomb, she is survived by her son Robert E. Tober and his wife Carol Tober and grandchild Robert G. Tober and his wife Sarah Tober. She is also survived by other notable family members Diana and Ralph Montes, Berta and Babe Chavez, Kathy Herrera, Jean Cole, and Cody and Sam Russel. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio on June 18, 1924, where she lived until 1965, when she moved with her husband and two sons to Texas. Grace found strength in the Lord”s Prayer and solace in Psalms 23. She cured everyone with cookies and laughter, and loved to strike up a good conversation and story swap whenever possible. Her many passions included reading, shopping, cooking, giving advice, travel, and animals. A self-proclaimed hardheaded lady, Grace was never afraid to speak her mind and rarely took any guff from anyone. She was as determined about how she was going to live her life, as she was proud of her kids and especially adoring to her grandson Robert, who she doted on regularly. Her sayings were legendary in the family and her gift of wordsmith is believed to be passed down to her son Robert, her beloved baby. The bright colors and patterns that typically adorned her were indicative of a vivacious personality with a zeal for life. Grace accomplished many things in her full lifetime, a 50-year membership with the Eastern Stars, travelling with her husband up the West Coast to Alaska, and a bank career that spanned more than 25 years. Loyal to those she loved, she believed in the bonds of family and providing a better life for her children. Her favorite songs were Amazing Grace and It Had To Be You by Frank Sinatra, which she deemed her song with Frank, her late husband.
