Grace was born June 1, 1925 in Edmunds, ND to Robert and Julia Dent. She was raised in North Dakota and Montana, graduating from Great Falls High School in 1943 and married Leighton Canoy that same year. She worked in retail sales for 11 years at C.R. Anthony Co. She switched to a career in real estate, working for Bison Realty for 9 years.
Grace was active in Boy Scouts, Campfire Girls and the PTA while her children were young. She was a member of the original committee instrumental in the placing of the big flag in Overlook Park.
Survivors include her loving husband Leighton; daughters Linda (David) Brooks of Great Falls, MT and Tracey (Tom) Van Setten of Fairfield, MT; son Robert (Laura) Canoy of Dearborn, MT; sister Ruby Irion of Great Falls.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents; brother George Dent; sister Violet Bauer; grandson “Bobby”.
