Gordon Sloat, 81, a long-time resident of Ridgefield, passed away on October 6, 2022.
Gordon was born on April 17, 1941, in Providence, Rhode Island. Son of the late Avard and Annie Sloat, he grew up in Rhode Island and went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
In his free time, Gordon loved traveling the world with his family and friends. He traveled to almost every state and to more than 70 countries and territories. He was an avid skier and spent a considerable amount of time skiing in the mountains of Vermont each winter with his family. He always had an insatiable thirst for information and although he was often a man of few words, he could be a man of many and enjoyed sharing the knowledge he learned throughout his life.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marcia and their two sons: Scott and Stephen; Stephen’s fiancée Janyce; as well as his brother Warren and wife Patricia. In addition, he is survived by his nephews, nieces, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and great-grand nieces.
